Silkworm Lab Story
Representative Lee Ju-han majored in natural fiber at Kyungpook National University in 2008 and dreamed of a silkworm farm for 17 years. He later majored in silkworm science and is the author of two papers on silkworms. He writes a notebook every year, writing about his bucket list and future farm, and he sees each item being accomplished when he looks at the previous notebooks.

Silkworms are the only domesticated insects that humans have raised since ancient times. They are our precious friends who generously provide benefits to humans, including larvae, pupae, moths, and even feces. However, we could not just sit by and watch the silkworm industry gradually decline due to high labor costs. The founder, CEO Lee Ju-han, is the last silkworm researcher in Korea who will continue the 8,000-year history of silkworms. He established a silkworm research company and manages it with the goal of 'connecting the world through silkworms' by connecting all products in the world with silkworms, such as silkworm management, genetic research, natural dyeing and fiber development, food manufacturing, and educational silkworms.

We are always curious about various phenomena and industries, seeking ways to connect them with silkworms. We believe that having an interest beyond silkworms can contribute to the sericulture industry. We continuously ask 'why' and repeat the process of finding answers.

We research sericulture technologies that maintain tradition while adapting to the times, combining future food sources, silk fibers, and AI technology..
Our Impact in Numbers
12 types of
silkworm species
Together with the representative Lee Ju-han, we are continuing our research with a team led by Professor Noh Si-gap, who has studied silkworm species from Asia (China, Japan, Korea), the origin of silkworms, for 40 years. We are currently maintaining 12 varieties at Hi Farm, having inherited the experience of studying/managing over 200 types of silkworms in Korea. We are researching and possessing data on the nutritional components and genetic mutations of each species.
1ppm
Silkworms are very environmentally friendly insects, with 0.01ppm (1ppm = 1/1,000,000) of pesticides or chemicals killing 1 million silkworms. Therefore, I am confident that our environment will become cleaner as we increase the land and mulberry fields where silkworms can be raised in the face of nature being destroyed.

4 million silkworm breeding 365
Silkworm Lab. raises a total of 4 million silkworms annually, from small to large-scale breeding methods. This is possible through years of research and learning of silkworm breeding techniques. Mulberry leaves are the most important to silkworms, but there are also temperature and humidity, and various viral diseases, so it is necessary to know the warning signs and control the surrounding environment. In addition, Silkworm Lab. raises silkworms as a smart farm 365 days a year, breaking away from the previous practice of breeding only in spring and fall. This is impossible without understanding and deeply studying silkworms as a whole.
